UC Medical Consortium Book Series Presented!

UCSF campus authors who published with the new UC Medical Humanities Book Series in 2011 presented their books yesterday afternoon in the beautiful venue of the Lange Room, UCSF Library at Parnassus. The series "Perspectives in Medical Humanities" is curated by Professor Brian Dolan, and publishes scholarship produced or reviewed under the auspices of the University of California Medical Humanities Consortium, a multi-campus collaborative of faculty, students and trainees in the humanities, medicine, and health sciences. The aim of the Perspectives in Medical Humanities series is to bring together the visions and analytic approaches from scholars across the ‘two cultures’ divide to demonstrate how multiple perspectives on biomedical issues enhance our overall understanding of social, cultural and humanistic meanings attached to health care. The series is made possible by a grant from the UC Office of the President, support from the Dean of Medicine at UCSF, and the Center for Humanities and Health Sciences at UCSF. Introductory remarks were given by Dr Catherine Lucey, recently appointed Vice Dean of Education for UCSF School of Medicine. All the authors were present to converse with the public and to sign copies of their book.
