CFP: Ways and Means: Teaching Professionalism Across the Health Care Spectrum

The Academy for Professionalism in Health Care (APHC), a strategic ally of ASBH, is pleased to announce its call for papers for our second annual meeting, with theme: “Ways and Means: Teaching Professionalism Across the Health Care SpectrumdownloadThis year’s theme encourages participants to consider ways in which professionalism is taught and modelled in any area of health care in which providers work directly with patients, in both academic and non-academic settings, representing multiple understandings of professionalism and diverse pedagogical approaches. The APHC 2013 Conference will be held May 8-10, 2014. We are requesting submissions describing current methodologies toward the cultivation of professionalism and interprofessionalism using health care ethics and humanities education. We encourage submissions for: - Panel discussions focused on the meaning and education of Professionalism? - Papers describing the use of ethics and humanities methodologies/modalities for the transmission of knowledge and development of behaviors and attitudes for professionalism - Workshops that describe and/or demonstrate existing educational approaches. Your submission may be in a narrative style of no more than 500 words, describing your efforts in health care education in ethics, history, literature, visual arts or other humanities at your home institution, addressing any educational venue in health care humanities or ethics that contribute to professionalism. Submissions for interprofessional panel discussions of professionalism in a collaborative setting are encouraged. Multiple submissions are welcomed.
