In brief, Voices in Bioethics Journal mobilizes research that speaks to a range of scholars in bioethics and welcomes supplemental submissions from the fields of public health, political communication, sociology, political science, law, communications, media, literature, philosophy and history. Given that bioethical issues arise at all levels of society, the journal encourages multi-disciplinary debate on such issues and aims to shed light on medical health concerns. While Voices in Bioethics Journal embraces submissions across a range of research perspectives, it especially encourages work that develops social, cultural, and critical understandings of bioethical theory and practice. Voices in Bioethics Journal seeks innovative, creative perspectives and forms of writing, and welcomes new challenges. On this basis, Voices in Bioethics Journal does require that all research be substantiated by, and situated within, informed engagement with the subject matter.
The journal welcomes the following types of submissions.
(1) Full research articles incorporating substantive findings and promoting critical scholarship. Voices in Bioethics Journal is especially open to articles that encourage or incorporate new ways of thinking about theory, research policy, and practice in health care. We limit most articles to around maximum 7,500-word length including all elements (title page, abstract, notes, references, data, etc.). However, the editors recognize that some forms of research will require more space to incorporate adequate data. Please contact us to discuss this further.
(2) Full length conceptual essays and diverse literary forms of writing in relating to bioethics around the maximum 7,000-word range.
(3) Short theoretical essays in the range of 2,000-4,000 words, addressing current issues, topics, and debates.
(4) Media Review Articles/Book Reviews. The Editors wish to encourage the following types of reviews (please contact us in advance) and can provide media/book suggestions.
